FAQ: FUN AND SILLY ANSWERS TO FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Where do you all live? We see so much NYC and PNW in your social feed.

After nearly 7  beautiful years in Manhattan, our family is back in the Pacific Northwest, calling the Portland area home for now. We travel throughout the region and still make it back to NYC often for work, so the Empire state will certainly still make an appearance from time to time in our photos.

How old are your kids?

Our kids are 16, 13, 11, 9 and baby Harry is busting through the months of his first year faster than any of us would like!

What does your husband do for a living?

Josh is a marine biologist and geneticist turned creative entrepreneur, who is much cooler than I could ever dream to be. He is currently the Director of Squarespace Labs, the innovative, dreaming and scheming branch of Squarespace Inc., where he has been employed or the last 9 years in various leadership roles.

How did you decide homeschool?

Oh what a great question! We had beautiful years in public education (including through University) ourselves, and will forever cheer on our grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and siblings who have devoted themselves to their students as educators themselves. We never thought we would homeschool. When our oldest child was 4 and in preschool, we began to read about homeschooling and caught a vision for home discipleship and a way of learning that was creative, innovative and fit the needs of each of our children. We loved the idea of a childhood steeped in literature and exploration.  We dipped a baby toe into the waters to give it a try when she was in kindergarten and absolutely fell in love with learning as a family and now we just can't ever quit.

I have a passion to write a book someday, how do I begin?

Just write. Hone your craft. Love writing for the sake of writing. Read great writers. Apprentice yourself to great stories and storytellers. Let words swim in your heart until they become a part of you. Develop your own voice. The Slant Letter is a great place to start.
